Mirror’s Edge Catalyst’s closed beta will begin on Friday, April 22nd, developer DICE and publisher EA have announced.
A number of main missions, side missions, and other optional activities will be included in the closed beta, as well as the game’s social play features which are explained in the above video.
On its website, EA cautions that the final game will likely be different to the one players experience in the beta.
Those selected to take part will be able to play the beta for five days until it shuts down on April 26th. Those chosen to participate from a mailing list on the game’s website will be emailed a code on the day the beta starts. Additional players who have signed up for the beta, but are not on the mailing list, will receive a code the day after the trial begins, Saturday, April 23rd.
Unfortunately, sign-ups for the closed beta have already ended.
The game was originally due to be released back in February but producer Sara Jansson explained that it was delayed to “make sure that when you step into the massive City of Glass and experience the rise of Faith, it’s as entertaining, impressive, and memorable as it can be.”
Catalyst focuses on the origins of Faith, the returning protagonist from the original 2008 title, and sees her fight the corporations controlling the City of Glass.
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is set to release on Tuesday, May 24th in North American and Thursday, May 26th in Europe for PC via Origin, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
