NCSOFT announced today in a press release the launch of Shattered Empire, the next content update for their MMO Blade & Soul, will be released on Wednesday, April 27th, and offers various new rewards and additional content for players.
Two brand new Heroic dungeons, Cold Storage and Sogun’s Lament, will be introduced by the update and pose the “greatest group content challenge” in the game to date according to the update. A new section of Mushin’s Tower (floors 9-15) will be added as well and players will have the chance to scale the tower and test out their solo mission skills. Finally, the update will add Whirlwind Valley, a new objective-based PvP game mode featuring “a furiously competitive” 6-vs.-6 team-based combat element.
Blade & Soul takes place in an Asian fantasy setting and its main story revolves around the quest for vengeance as players seek to avenge their fallen Master. The game offers eight character classes and features combat inspired by martial arts and mystical powers.
NCSOFT has promised to regularly release updates and additional patches for the game, which launched in the West in January, over the next few months.
Blade & Soul initially launched in 2012 in South Korea and in Japan in 2013. A Japanese animated TV adaptation also aired in 2014.
Released in early March, the game’s previous update Unchained allowed players to battle the God of Martial Arts, Mushin himself, on Floor 8 of Mushin’s Tower, navigate the maze party dungeon of Naryu Labyrinth, and added the warlock class.
