When there’s a video game that people want to know more about, but we’re not likely to hear more about it for a while, gamers will latch onto any update they can about the title, even if it’s not a confirmed piece of info. In the case of Marvel’s Wolverine, people have wanted to know more about it since Insomniac Games first revealed its teaser. The title has been confirmed by the team to be set in the same universe as their Spider-Man titles, but that hasn’t given much information about what the game will be about and how things will play.
Enter some leakers. Ones who claimed that they had information on Marvel’s Wolverine that would help stop the drought of info about the game. According to their report, the game will be released in 2025, have a much darker tone than the three titles with Spider-Man, and the island of Madripoor will be a key location within the title:
So, do we take this information at face value? It’s hard to say. First, Insomniac Games hasn’t provided a release window for the title in any way. That being said, we do know that since their latest title is now “done,” they’ve been sending plenty of people over to the Wolverine game so that work can be built up on that. Given that and how long game development can take, 2025 does seem more feasible than 2024. But we’ve been wrong in the past. It could take longer, or it could come out next year. Only time will tell.
Regarding the tone, that is something that most people would’ve bet on without the leak saying anything. After all, while Wolverine and Spider-Man are both heroes, Wolverine is never afraid to get violent, even if that means killing people to get the job done. After all, he is “the best there is at what he does.” Plus, we don’t know what “period of life” Wolverine is in right now regarding his place in the X-Men or where his mental state is.
As for Madripoor, that’s a key place not only in Wolverine’s backstory but also in the X-Men’s backstory. That island has been known to be “lawless” and a haven for mutants and certain crime families. Wolverine even married an enemy there so that the island could have a true ruler at one point.
But again, all of this is speculation until Insomniac Games says something definitive.
