Some Xbox Live Services might be Down

February 2, 2012 by Mat Growcott

A service alert has been issued after reports that people are having trouble with certain aspects of Xbox Live.

Certain sections of Xbox Live may be down, Electronic Theatre reports. After complaints from their readers that they were unable to create or recover GamerTags, access account management or sign-in using memory cards, Electronic Theatre reached out to Microsoft and was told that the company are aware of the issues and that they'll be sorted as quickly as possible.

So, if you'd been waiting for today to change your GamerTag to something incredibly witty, take it as a sign that you just don't have it in you and give up. Without an exact timeframe concerning things getting back to normal, it's best just to expect things to be fixed over the next few hours or so, although it may get worse before it gets better.

Details are a little sketchy at the minute, with people's problems during the "outage" being hearsay more than anything; the specific problem seems to revolve around GamerTags.
