WarioWare: Move It Gets Hilarious Launch Trailer

November 3, 2023 by Todd Black

What do I look like, a microbiologist?

Traditionally, when a launch trailer for a video game gets released, it highlights the standard way of playing the game or talks about the story you’ll enjoy and typically showcases people playing the title and liking what they’re seeing. After all, it’s a way for the company to “lure you in” and get the game. However, in the case of WarioWare: Move It, they decided to go the route of…well…Wario. By that, we mean that they dropped what is easily the wackiest and most insane launch trailer ever, and that’s perfect because the game is meant to be one of the wackiest things you’ll play all year.

Focusing on the trailer, they present the game as an infomercial versus a trailer for a video game. They “highlight” people who are living terrible lives in one weird way or another and then state how WarioWare: Move It will be able to help them get through those “hard times.” Obviously, since this is a video game about microgames, we know it’s not true, but the trailer hams it up so much you might wonder if it IS true!

Seriously, this launch trailer is funny and was a really clever way for Nintendo to “advertise” a game that might not be on many people’s radars. There is a story to the game. Specifically, Wario and his crew head to an island and get captured by the “Wood Watchers,” and now they must complete over 200 microgames to escape! That doesn’t sound like a challenge at all!

Wahh-haha! Grab a garlic clove and get in formation because #WarioWareMoveIt! is now available!

The true “hook” of the title is the ways you’ll have to play the microgames. You’ll need to use the Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons in various positions alongside your body to complete various tasks. For example, you might need to pull tissues out of a box, put a ring on someone’s finger, run a certain distance to get away from something, or contort your body to fit a “certain position!” All of these are on the table, and again, there are 200+ microgames for you to play!

Just remember, these games are meant to be short and sweet, so you’ll need to react fast to come out on top! The reviews for the game were rather positive, and critics loved how wacky the game is and how perfect it is to play with friends and family. So don’t wait. Grab your random friends and family and get into the games!

The game is out now on Nintendo Switch!
