Minecraft addicts everywhere might be pleased to know that Minecraft World Explorer, the unofficial mobile app developed by Robots and Pencils, is now free in iOS and Android app stores for a limited time. Exactly how limited a time isn’t specified.
Formerly $2.99, the app allows players to explore a randomly generated Minecraft map with seemingly infinite amount of raw materials at their disposal. As with all things that sound too good (or illegal?) to be true, there’s a catch—you cannot craft items and zombies are, to my understanding, the only monsters you’re likely to encounter. You can burrow as deep underground as you’d like, but you’ll find no Creepers there. Aw, shucks.
Even so, the generated map is pretty enormous and the app itself is a good time-waster for anyone who just cannot get enough Minecraft, even in social settings where it’s probably a bit awkward to be playing Minecraft. If you’ve ever been interested in Minecraft World Explorer but were too cheap to shell out three bucks for it, now is your chance.
