There’s no official news yet on the next Call of Duty installment for this year, but one rumor is circulating around the internet is that this new installment will be set in the future. Don’t think about Black Ops III as apparently, the new installment will be set so far into the future that Black Ops III will look as if it came from the stone age.
News began to circulate through a NeoGAF post in which a user by the name of Shinobi602 has posted some small details as to what gamers can expect from the next upcoming Call of Duty video game title.
Normally, when you see forums and rumors you can become quick to write them off as being legitimate. However, the news came from Shinobi602, a user who has posted in the past with credibility. According to the NeoGAF user who has inside knowledge, the game will be set very far into the future with space combat an essentially completely sci-fi.
Answering the question “Are we talking Battlefield 2142 style?” when asking about thoughts of a new Call of Duty title, Shinobi602 stated the following:
Very far future, space combat, full on sci-fi. This makes Black Ops 3 feel like the stone age. Metaphorically of course.
He further went on to describe the game a bit more in detail and compared it to another big anticipated title.
This is nothing like Ghosts. We’re talking combat in spaceships (think No Man’s Sky), and not just around Earth. And a central hub area that’s a form of living space station. Think the Battlestar Galactica loading bay. Being a mostly campaign guy, I’m pretty excited for this one.
Additionally, rumors are also circulating around the internet has the upcoming pre-order of the untitled Call of Duty title will come packed with both Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2.
Regardless, until the official word is released about this next big Call of Duty installment, we can only label this as a rumor. What do you personally think of a futuristic sci-fi Call of Duty title? Let us know by leaving a comment down below.
