Rockstar Games’ RAGE Engine Reportedly Getting A Major Upgrade

October 11, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Grand Theft Auto VI could really revamp the experience.

Grand Theft Auto fans are waiting for Rockstar Games to unveil their next installment. It’s a game that’s currently in the works but has been kept under wraps from the public. We wouldn’t know much about the game if it weren’t for the slew of leaks that emerged online. However, a new report has come out that suggests we might see a significant update to Rockstar Games’ RAGE engine. That will make this new upcoming installment from Rockstar Games a really thrilling and immersive experience.

The report comes from Rockstar Mag, which was translated and shared through Dexerto. Now, this is just a report, so it’s nothing official quite yet. We’ll have to wait and see how the RAGE engine holds up with Grand Theft Auto VI when it is finally released into the marketplace. With that said, there are several areas which will see improvements. If the report is to be believed, we can expect innovations in physics, time management, renderings, and artificial intelligence.

Further breaking things down, the report notes that we’ll see improvements in terms of vehicle crashes, water simulations, a better day and night system, improvements towards textures, lights, volumetric clouds, and more realistic reactions for NPCs or police. That should make Grand Theft Auto VI a visual treat and a far more immersive experience than what we have seen in Grand Theft Auto V and Rockstar Games Red Dead Redemption 2.

Unfortunately, as mentioned, this is just a report. We don’t have anything officially unveiled by Rockstar Games in terms of an update being made to their RAGE engine. Furthermore, until we get the official trailer reveal, we don’t know what to expect regarding gameplay experiences and the environment we’ll be going through.

With that said, the previous leaks have revealed the next setting we’ll be raising havoc in would be Vice City. So, if you were getting a bit tired of Los Santos and want that new change of scenery, the release for Grand Theft Auto VI can’t come soon enough. In the meantime, there was a new map creation for the upcoming game, which was designed from the slew of leaked clips. You can check out that map while we continue to wait for the new game, which will hopefully get an official reveal trailer sometime this year.
