During today’s Gamescom ONL, we got our first look at some campaign footage. Meanwhile, the presentation also highlighted open combat missions where the objectives can be tackled how players see fit. So that means there will be points in the game where you can decide the best route to take or whatever you mind find to be the most thrilling experience. You could opt to provide a more sneaky approach and keep your enemies unaware of your presence. Likewise, you can decide that the best course of action is to jump into the scene and unleash a heavy dose of lead on your targets. The choice is ultimately yours.
This first level showcased was entitled Operation 627, where we examined a few gameplay elements. This mission features a mixture of heavy firepower action and stealth. Overall the mission looks to be all about the rescue of some prisoner. Who that is remains a mystery as even upon reaching the individual’s cell, we’re cut off from seeing anything more. So you can likely expect this mission to remain a mystery until the game launches later this year.
There has been plenty of excitement over Call of Duty lately, with Microsoft seeking to acquire Activision Blizzard. However, we know that when this deal goes through, you’ll still find Call of Duty installments landing on competitor platforms outside of Xbox. With that said, we know that the next mainline installment is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, with the reveal event that took place earlier this month. The game was highlighted during an in-game event for Call of Duty Warzone, where a trailer offered a better look into what this game will entail.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will take place after the events of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II; players will follow Captain Price along with Task Force 141 as they seek out Vladimir Makarov and end his terror across the world. We also knew that zombies were going to make a grand return in this game, with the developers providing a new experience. This time around, players will team up with other squads, where they will continue to fight back against the undead.
Currently, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is set to launch into the marketplace on November 10, 2023. When the game does release, you’ll find it available for the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms. For now, you can view the campaign footage showcased earlier today in the video we have embedded below.
