Leaks don’t typically happen by major industry leaders. But it looks like there might have been a leak that surfaced online directly from the Xbox team. It’s not confirmed to be real right now, and plenty of Twitter users are suggesting not to take this information as anything real. However, one Xbox Twitter account tweeted an image featuring Final Fantasy 7 Remake. The only problem is that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is not available on the Xbox platform. So we could be looking at an announcement coming out from the Xbox and Square Enix teams soon.
Thanks to a report by DualShockers, we discovered that the Xbox Brazil Twitter account tweeted out a Father’s Day celebration image. This image featured several characters with their children. However, in one of the images, we see Barret and Marlene from Final Fantasy 7 Remake. This image has since been deleted, but fans are wondering if this was actually an early image that went out before an announcement date. That could mean a Final Fantasy 7 Remake is coming, but the Xbox and Square Enix teams are waiting for an event to make the official announcement.
Meanwhile, it’s worth noting that just like the DualShockers reported on, some Twitter users have stressed that Xbox Brazil has made several mistakes in the past. So this could be another instance that a mistake was made, and there’s nothing in the works regarding a Final Fantasy 7 Remake port for Xbox players. Of course, we’re sure that there are plenty of Final Fantasy fans out there that are hopeful this port is real and will be coming to the Xbox platform sooner rather than later.
Currently, Final Fantasy 7 Remake is available. The game launched in 2020 and has since been available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms. Meanwhile, this is not the complete remake of the original game. Instead, Final Fantasy 7 was far too large for the studio to remake entirely. As a result, they have cut the game up into parts, with the first installment only available for players to enjoy right now. However, we know that the second part of this remake, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, is set to launch sometime in 2024 for the PlayStation 5 platform. In the meantime, you can check out our Before You Buy coverage of Final Fantasy 7 Remake in the video we have embedded below.
