Ubisoft has a few notable projects in the works, like the series of Assassin’s Creed titles. Their move lately has been dialing back and focusing on those key pillar IPs for the company. As a result, we’ve seen reports of different internal projects being scrapped. One of the game projects that was reportedly just scrapped was the sequel to one of Ubisoft’s newest IPs, Immortals Fenyx Rising. When this report surfaced online yesterday, it spread like wildfire, with media outlets sharing the unofficial cancellation of this game sequel.
Of course, at the time, Ubisoft’s spokesperson was not keen on giving out any comments. There was the standard statement of Ubisoft not commenting on anything related to rumors or speculation. Most would have assumed that this story would end right there. However, Ubisoft had a change of heart and has since made one statement on the matter to VGC. This media outlet first reported on the game cancellation from sources close to the project. While Ubisoft didn’t outright state that this game was canceled, they confirmed what was happening with the team that was supposedly handling the project.
Immortals Fenyx Rising was developed under Ubisoft Quebec, which was also previously the development team that worked on Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. According to the statement provided by Ubisoft, they have reallocated some of the creative teams and resources within the Quebec studio. This was part of their new global strategy that allowed the development team to use their expertise and technologies further to accelerate the development projects of their biggest brands. Outside of that, Ubisoft had nothing more to share at the moment.
As part of our global strategy, we are redirecting and reallocating some creative teams and resources within the Quebec studio to other unannounced projects. The expertise and technologies these teams developed will serve as an accelerator for the development of these key projects focused on our biggest brands. We have nothing further to share at this time.

So it seems that the previous speculation and reports were right. Ubisoft is not taking a chance with a sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising as it might not perform as well as they’d like. Instead, they want to continue turning over new video game installments to their strongest franchises that have established fanbases attached. Again, it looks like Immortals Fenyx Rising will remain a one-off release.
But with all that said, if you haven’t played Immortals Feynx Rising, the game is available to pick up for the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch platforms. We also have a Before You Buy video coverage of the title, which is available to view down below.
