Developer Dodge Roll Games and publisher Devolver Digital have issued a press release to confirm that their “gunfight dungeon crawler” Enter the Gungeon will be released tomorrow.
The game is coming to Windows PC via Steam and the PlayStation Store for PS4 and you can get a good idea of what to expect from the above launch trailer.
Enter the Gungeon features hundreds of weapons that, among other things, shoot rainbows and there’s plenty of loot to look out for.
Players can take control of one of several characters, each of whom is on a pilgrimage to a distant planet where they kill things in a hilarious yet awesome fashion. Though fundamentally a radial shooter, the game merges looting and dungeon crawling with increasingly difficult level as players push deeper into the Gungeon.
The game is described as follows:
In Enter the Gungeon, players select a hero and battle their way to the bottom of the Gungeon by surviving a challenging and evolving series of floors filled with the dangerously adorable Gundead and fearsome Gungeon bosses armed to the teeth. Gather precious loot, discover hidden secrets, and chat with opportunistic merchants and shopkeepers to purchase powerful items to gain an edge.
“Gun violence is an important issue and we’re doing our part to exploit that issue by selling cute stuffed bullet dolls in promotion of a game about shooting bullets at bullets that shoot bullets back at you,” Fork Parker, Devolver Digital’s fictitious chief financial officer, commented in relation to the game’s surprisingly cute bullet shaped plushies.
