Almost 19 minutes of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End gameplay has been revealed by YouTube channel TwoSixNine as developer Naughty Dog begins media previews.
The footage takes place in Madagascar and can be viewed above. If you want to avoid any potential spoilers ahead of release you may wish to ignore the video but it shows how Naughty Dog has adapted the Uncharted formula for a more open environment even if we never see some of the series’ trademarked epic action sequences. The developer is undoubtedly keeping those moments close to its chest ahead of the game’s release next month.
Uncharted 4 sees protagonist Nathan Drake reacquainted with his brother, Sam, who invites him one last adventure too tempting to refuse. Nate, who’s settled down with journalist Elena, has been debating himself with regard to his life choices and is seemingly unhappy with a quiet domestic life.
Over the past several weeks, Naughty Dog has released a series of behind-the-scenes videos showcasing the evolution of Nathan Drake, the game’s technical prowess and how it’s pushing the PS4 to its limits, and the emotional impact of saying goodbye to Drake after all these years on the developers and voice actors.
The game went gold last month.
Development of the game has been somewhat rocky, resulting in several delays and a complete rewrite two years ago when writers Justin Richmond and Amy Hennig left Naughty Dog and were replaced by original series writers and The Last of Us directors Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley took over.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is set for release on May 10th on PlayStation 4.
