The Last of Us was a massive hit from Naughty Dog when it was initially released in the marketplace during the PlayStation 3 lifecycle. Of course, since then, we have seen the game see a remastered edition and even a complete remake. This franchise had another resurgence with the launch of a successful HBO live-action adaptation. So there are more players eagerly hoping that Naughty Dog will continue on with this IP. One of the means of doing so is with a new game installment. So far, only The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part 2 exist. But a new report online might indicate what we could see in The Last of Us Part 3.
This news comes from a couple of sources online right now. We’re finding out, thanks to Eurogamer, that a reliable industry insider called DanielRPK has revealed there is a third installment in the works. It’s set to feature a new cast of survivors trying to keep their wits about them as they live in a Victorian-style house. The world is still just as deadly, with the survivors trying to gather enough resources while also apparently dealing with an internal power struggle. Within the new game installment, players will follow a set of five new characters within this home.
Meanwhile, another leaker online by the name of ViewerAnon states that Ellie will be making a return in this installment. She will play as big of a role as she did with The Last of Us Part II. Although, there wasn’t any indication that we would see any of the other characters making a return from the previous game. The individual went on to state that major filming for the game will be happening this year.
So it would seem we’re likely a good way off before Naughty Dog is able to reveal anything official to the public. Right now, to get a new fix for The Last of Us, we might have to wait for the HBO series to make a return. We know that the narrative for that second season will follow The Last of Us Part 2. However, it was also previously noted that this game installment would be far too large in order for HBO to adapt into one season. Meanwhile, if you’re already familiar with the games, then you might see some changes. One of the leading actors in the show has expressed that there will potentially be some leeway on how this show continues.
