The next iteration of Resident Evil will be a ‘dramatic horror’ and not a ‘survival horror’ like its predecessors have been, claims Capcom. Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi described Resident Evil 6 as "a blend of action and survival horror – something we like to call dramatic horror.”
Capcom has also stated that the sequel will be their biggest project to date, with more than 600 people working on the new title.
“This is by far the largest-scale production Capcom has ever embarked on. Between the 150 staff members in Japan and everyone around the world we have more than 600 people involved. A lot of work has gone into this game," said executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, speaking in a new developer video.
“Resident Evil 6 is by far and away the most ambitious title in the series.” He added that it would be a much "larger world" and "deeper experience;" more than gamers have "ever played before."
Resident Evil 6 is slated for a November 20th release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3; a PC version is expected to be released thereafter.
