Occupy Oakland are getting themselves off the streets and into an abandoned building so they can have facilities like a kitchen, meeting room and games room, and what does every games room need? A goddamn arcade machine, that’s what.
The OAK-U-TRON 201X will be a Winnitron Indie Game Arcade, which will not only play some really awesome indie games, but a game that local Oakland indie developer Anna Anthropy has offered to design for free. A bar in my area has a Winnitron and just let me say they are amazing, this is worth it just for the machine.
If a Winnitron wasn’t cool enough, the plan is to mount it on wheels and power it with batteries so they can port it around on the street and run it anywhere. A fully portable arcade machine, like what a ‘portable’ would have been before the invention of the handheld.
