Disney Speedstorm Has Serious Launch Issues, Dev Apologizes

April 19, 2023 by Todd Black

Oops.

There are several “issues” going on in the video game space nowadays that gamers are frankly quite tired of. But undoubtedly, the biggest one is developers putting out games that they claim are finished but are anything but. Just speaking that sentence likely filled many of you with dread as you remember buying a game you were excited about, only to find it unplayable. Many hate this because it shows the dark side of development, where dev teams will put out the games to make money instead of ensuring quality first. That brings us to Disney Speedstorm.

The game admittedly has not had its official launch yet. However, it did release its early access version. So that meant there were naturally going to be bugs and issues, which is fine in this context. However, one of those “bugs” that gamers have been experiencing is that they can’t play the game at all! Specifically, if you ordered the “Founder’s Pack,” you couldn’t even download the game to try and play it. That’s definitely something that shouldn’t have happened.

Over on Twitter, the team made it clear that they know about the issues and are working on them. But it won’t be a quick fix potentially:

“We are aware of the issue where some players that pre-ordered the title are unable to download the game and we apologize for it. We are in contact with our partners to have it fixed ASAP, but unfortunately the solution seems to require more time,” the company wrote on Twitter. “Solving this is our top priority at the moment – as soon as we have updates, we will let you know. Once again, our apologies for the inconvenience and we’re looking forward to all of you being able to play the game.”

It also should be noted that those who got the Founder’s Pack paid for the early access experience. They didn’t have to do that, as the game will be free-to-play once it officially arrives. So as of now, they’re not getting their money’s worth in the slightest. So was this a simple glitch? Well, it should be noted that the team behind the game, Gameloft, had an issue like this pop up with another one of its Disney titles. So you’d think they would’ve done everything possible to ensure this kind of thing didn’t happen again. Apparently not.

Hopefully, for those who want to get into Disney Speedstorm, you’ll be able to do so soon.
