Prototype 2 Limited Edition Covers Look Pretty Rad

January 23, 2012 by Ian Miles Cheong

It looks radical, and red.

Prototype didn’t make much of an impression when it was first released, and having to compete with the likes of the much better—and more refined—InFamous and Assassin’s Creed titles put it in a losing position. That said, it wasn’t too bad a game, and Activision feels it deserves a sequel.

Prototype 2 no longer features Alex Mercer as its protagonist, who has since been replaced with a jarhead by the name of Sergeant James Heller. The marine sets out on a mission to destroy the Blacklight Virus and kill the sociopathic Alex Mercer. I guess that makes you the good guy, which is a nice change given how unlikeable Alex Mercer was as a character.

Heller must make his way through the contaminated wasteland of NYZ, build up a genetic arsenal by destroying powerful mutants and ultimately kill Mercer.

The limited edition of the game contains an exclusive weapon called the Flesh Cleaver, which happens to be a gigantic meat cleaver attached to your arm. Not bad.

We’ll see how well this one holds up against Darksiders 2 when it’s released on April 24 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
