UPDATE:
We personally noted that Riju would also be in the game yesterday. But now, she got her own art tweet!
ORIGINAL STORY
Fans are still raving about the Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom trailer we got last week. It was filled with numerous things that excite people for the ever-encroaching release date. But one thing that many people weren’t expecting was the shots of Link seemingly teaming up with various characters in battle. Typically, Link fights alone or only with Princess Zelda during important boss fights like with Ganon. Yet here, Link seems to have an army at his back sometimes, and a few of the characters shown in the trailer were in the previous game. That makes fans very excited about what might be next.
To highlight some of these characters, Nintendo has dropped some special art focusing on them. For example, we have Tulin from the Rito tribe!
If you’re struggling to remember Tulin, it’s because he wasn’t the new Guardians you met before. He was one of the Rito who was kind to Link when he entered the tribe’s home and helped Link in the “Flight Training Area.” He looked much younger back then, showing that some time has passed since the end of the last game. Tulin is clearly more capable now and ready to help Link if needed. Given how the Rito are master archers, his skills will be useful.
Then, there’s Prince Sidon, easily one of the fan-favorite characters of Breath of the Wild. He is the future leader of the Zora people, and his imposing figure and million-dollar smile helped him win over many gamers upon his first appearance. His connections to Link run deep, as Link nearly had a relationship with Sidon’s sister, Mipha, who cared for Link deeply before her death. Sidon wished to avenge his sister and did all he could to help Link and save the Zora people.
Sidon wields a trident with power and skill, and in the recent trailer, he appeared to have one of the “Tears of the Kingdom,” so it’ll be interesting to see what power he gets from that.
We also know that Riju, the new head/champion of the Gerudo, will also appear in Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom and wield the blades that Urbosa used once upon a time.
There’s still so much we don’t know about the game, and that’s partly what makes it so exciting. The new version of this world has many mysteries, wonders, and adventures to be had when it arrives on May 12th.
