Capcom has revealed they will be holding a special Street Fighter 6 Showcase event next week.
They made this announcement on Twitter:
“Tune in to the #SF6Showcase for an extended final look at Street Fighter 6 with over 30 minutes of big news and announcements.
Hosted by Lil Wayne (@LilTunechi)

This showcase event seems to be the big one where Capcom will lay out all the details for the game. While we do have a general idea of what the game will have to offer, there is still something of an air of mystery around it.
We definitely won’t know everything until the game actually releases, but in between, this is the big opportunity Capcom has to win over, not only the dedicated fighting game community, and the hardcore fans, but gamers who aren’t fans of fighting games at all.
Is there reason to believe Street Fighter 6 will be different than previous Street Fighter games, or other fighting games in the market today? I think so.
The seeming stereotype for fighting games now is that arena fighting games, like Super Smash Bros, are the kind that everyone wants to play, while older games like Street Fighter and Tekken have become too complicated for most gamers to really get into. This is why, instead of getting a new Marvel versus Capcom, we received Multiversus and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl instead.
The developers of these older fighting games have adapted by turning their games around for the enthusiast and competitive communities. Capcom itself is at the forefront of making fighting games into esports with the Capcom Pro Tour.
However, this Street Fighter is trying something else as well with its World Tour mode. World Tour is a 3D action adventure single player mode, where players can fully customize their characters. World Tour also connects with Battle Hub, an online lobby mode which lets players roam a virtual video game arcade with their custom characters.
None of these modes have anything to do with competitive play, but they definitely sound like completely off-the-wall experiments Capcom is making to see if they can lure regular players back in.
Notably, this game is being designed by Yusuke Hashimoto, who recently left PlatinumGames for Capcom. We don’t know if Hashimoto actually came up with these ideas himself, but many fans are definitely looking forward to a PlatinumGames (or is it Clover Studio?) touch to the game.
Street Fighter 6 is planned for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X|S on June 2, 2023.
