My last PC succumbed to injuries sustained during overclocking that I didn’t even know I was doing. It was frightening, you know, seeing my lifeline stutter and spit out smoke like that. If you’re fiercely paranoid like I am, you’ll be glad to know that Intel is now offering insurance.
Intel is introducing what they call the Performance Tuning Plan, which in plain English means ‘overclocking insurance.’ For just US$20-$35 extra, your Intel CPU (granted you have one of the right ones) will be insured should you kill it with fire accidentally, and even allows a one-time get out of jail free card that will let you replace your entire system.
It’s currently only in a pilot phase, and only available for a six month stint.
So, do you guys think this is worth buying? I’m quite attached to my set up right now and I don’t want to see her in pain.
