Do you like Dark Souls and chicken wings? Then boy do I have a contest for you. Bandai Namco Entertainment UK and Sony Computer Entertainment UK have teamed up with Meat Liquor, a London-based restaurant chain, to bring fans the eating challenge of their life. Or at the very least, two weeks of it.
From April 4 to April 29, 2016, those who enter any participating Meat Liquor location can take on the Dark Souls Wings Challenge. Challengers are tasked with consuming 20 chicken wings, smothered in “in a quarter of a litre of chilli sauce”, purportedly a heat so intense that “the chef preparing the wings for hardy challengers is required to wear protective gloves, a mask and goggles to protect from the intensity of heat”. Participants will also be required to sign a waiver.
Those who can eat all 20 wings will be given a I SURVIVED t shirt (a YOU DIED shroud will be thrown over those who don’t*) and the winner with the fastest completion at each restaurant will also be given a PlayStation 4 with a copy of Dark Souls III Collector’s Edition. The fastest time of all will additionally award a Prestige Edition of the game, which includes a 40cm Lord of Cinder figurine.
Sadly, the press release about the event does not answer the most important question in the history of all games industry Twitter feuds of all time: bone-in or boneless? Pictured above is a set of drumsticks in buffalo sauce, which you will definitely not be eating as part of the chicken wings challenge. To browse Meat Liquor locations, check their official website.
Dark Souls III will release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One this April. The original game will also be a pre-order bonus for purchases on Xbox One. For more on the game be sure to check out the Gameranx site tag.
