Ubisoft announced today that it has shut down its Vancouver development studio, which had previously worked on a number of sports titles for the publisher.
"Unfortunately, we haven’t found the right formula for success for the talented team there," an Ubisoft rep told Game Informer. "We thank our Vancouver team for their hard work and the projects that they have delivered."
"Team members will have the opportunity to consider positions in other Ubisoft studios and we will work with each of them to help find the best next step, whether it be within Ubisoft or outside.”
Ubisoft Vancouver was originally founded as Action Pants back in 2006, before Ubisoft scooped them up in 2009. Their previous work includes Pure Futbol for the 360, PC, and PS3, Academy of Champions: Soccer for the Wii, and Motionsports Adrenaline for Kinect and Move. Hopefully someone out there can take up the mantle and start developing soccer games we'll never hear anything about.
