Mario Kart is a massive franchise, although we haven’t had a new mainline installment in quite some time. During the Nintendo Wii U lifecycle, we saw the launch of Mario Kart 8. That was a hit, although the Nintendo platform, in general, was an utter failure. So when Nintendo found success with the Switch platform, it wasn’t too much of a surprise that they brought Mario Kart 8 onto the new console. Fans have been enjoying Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for several years now, and there’s a good reason why veteran players are still logging into the game.
Rather than deliver a brand new installment into the marketplace, Nintendo opted to instead deliver DLC to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. We’re still receiving these updates to the game, and it mainly comes packed with new courses and cups. Players are being treated to several revamped and enhanced courses to the game that were featured in past Mario Kart titles. Although, there was a slight change in the upcoming wave 4 release. This upcoming update is not only giving us a new set of race courses but also a new driver in the form of Birdo.
Now a new tweet from a user on Twitter that claims a leak suggests more drivers are coming. Teebeeyt has taken to Twitter and shared a recent leak that had surfaced online. This leak suggests that the upcoming waves will also add additional drivers. That should further buff up the roster while also continuing to include new tracks into the game. If this leak proves to be real, then we will see King Bob-omb, Petey Piranha, Hammer Bro, Chagrin Chuck, Monty Mole, Diddy, Dixie, Funky, Super Nintendo Entertainment System Mario, Kamek, Pauline, and Nabbit.
That’s quite the set of characters being added to the game. As a result of how many characters are supposedly coming, some fans are very hesitant to consider this a real leak. After all, the upcoming wave has only one additional character in the mix. Although, we also imagine that there would be more than a few excited players to see some of these characters get added into the mix. For now, all we can do is wait and see if we’re getting any additional characters or not. In the meantime, if you haven’t seen the next upcoming wave of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, you can check out the trailer for the new courses in the video we have embedded above.
