Sega was a company’s powerhouse as they competed in terms of software and hardware. However, after the Sega Dreamcast failure, the company opted to focus fully on software content. Still, there are plenty of incredible IPs the company has helped bring out and deliver for a massive audience of players. Now some of these IPs haven’t had much attention lately. But that could be changing as, after all, we did finally see a new entry to the beloved Streets of Rage franchise recently. But thanks to a new survey that has been shared online, it seems that the company could be considering a return to some other past video game franchises.
Thanks to the survey from Sega being shared on Reddit, we’re getting a look at some of the past franchises Sega was known for. Here, we’re given a look at a few games with the question asking those taking the survey to the extent they are familiar with the IP. The choices are essentially never hearing of the game franchise before to having played a game of the franchise in the past. But what might excite fans is that this could be a way to gauge how familiar players might be with a new game installment to the franchisor potentially rebooting the IP altogether.
From the survey image shared online, some of the classic Sega IPs highlighted include Streets of Rage, Shinobi, Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Altered Beast, House of the Dead, and Virtua Fighter. That might be a few games that could hit production here soon or have already been toyed with. However, that doesn’t mean that these games will see a revival anytime soon. At the very least, some fans of the franchise may be thrilled to see that their favorite games are being featured in the survey.
Perhaps we’ll see some new thrilling announcements from Sega regarding their classic IPs this year. Although, all we can do is wait and see which, if any, of these game franchises are being called off the bench for a revival. At any rate, are you hopeful that any of these games will be rebooted or receive a new video game installment? Sega certainly has a large catalog of games to look back on if they wish to see a modern release in the marketplace.
