Sony Announces Winner Of Fan Poll For Best PS5 Games

February 28, 2023 by Todd Black

Did your choice win?

Sony is in a unique position right now with their PlayStation 5 console. Over the first few years of its life, they could support the system but couldn’t ship it out in the desired numbers. Naturally, that hurts the bottom line and their goals for the system. However, with the arrival of 2023, they had all their problems fixed, and the console has been selling like hotcakes ever since. As such, Sony put a poll up on the PlayStation Blog to give players with a PS5 a chance to recommend games to newcomers. Four categories were put up, and the results are now in!

The PlayStation Blog hosted the results, and the people behind it noted that tens of thousands of votes were cast for the categories. So if nothing else, many fans got to have their voices heard. So shall we break down the winners?

The first category was “Best Use of DualSense Wireless Controller.” The winner of that was Asto’s Playroom. This shouldn’t be too much of a surprise for various reasons. The first is that the game came bundled with the PS5, so almost everyone who got the system likely tried it out at one point or another. Second, the game was built specifically to show off the power of the DualSense controller, so it’s not surprising it makes the best use of it.

The next category was “Best Indie Game on PS5.” The winner for that category was Stray. That, too, isn’t a surprise because the cat-themed game took the world by storm last year and even got nominated for Game of the Year by many outlets. The title was a perfect example of taking a simple concept, in this case, being a cat and weaving a grand world and gameplay experience around it.

The third category was “Best Graphical Showcase” for the system, and that went to God of War Ragnarok. This isn’t a surprise, given how much the sequel title is and how impressive it made things look throughout your godly experience. From the character models to the beautiful details in the Nine Realms to the special effects, the team at Santa Monica Studio put everything they had into this game to make it beautiful.

Finally, the “Best Game” for the PlayStation 5 goes to God of War Ragnarok. Some might call out “recency bias” on this one, but you can see why people enjoyed it so much to call it the best. It ended the Norse Saga for Kratos and Atreus and delivered many memorable moments.
