Tom Clancy’s The Division released this past week and has made moves to assert itself as the new MMO military shooter du jour. According to a report from Polygon, The Division has snatched the best-opening-day record from 2014’s Watch_Dogs. Alongside 2007’s Assassin’s Creed, Polygon noted that this means Ubisoft has now published three of the four most profitable IP launches in the history of the game industry.
But for players of the game, sales figures aren’t nearly as exciting – or potentially frustrating – as navigating the game’s many missions and learning its systems. Destiny players the world over may take to The Division fairly easily, but newer, uninitiated players may have a harder time. Fortunately, Ubisoft is looking out for you.
The publisher has released a series of videos on its YouTube channel designed to help familiarize new players to the game.
The Tom Clancy’s The Division Agent Training Series comprise four short videos that go over the basics of the game’s mechanics and some of its more nuanced multiplayer features. The four video guides, which we have so graciously provided for you below, cover matchmaking and grouping up, surviving in the Dark Zone (the game’s PvE- and PvP-enabled area), weapons, customization, and crafting, and gear mods and attributes. If you’re a hardened shooter or even MMO veteran, these videos aren’t likely to tell you anything you don’t already know – the weapons and upgrades video, for example, goes over basic information on comparing weapon stats and explaining things like what DPS is – but these publisher-released resources can be invaluable to uninitiated players.
Watch the videos below, then go forth and…divide!
