Minecraft developer Mojang AB has announced their latest hire, Cube World creator Wollay.
Like Minecraft, Cube World features a randomly generated world made up of voxels, but Wollay has set himself apart from his inspiration by adding some RPG features, including a dynamic quests, a full levelling and skill system, and NPC shopkeepers.
The ingenious mashup apparently caught the eye of Mojang, as they've now added Wollay to their modest roster. According to a series of tweets from Mojang founder Markus "Notch" Persson, the company hasn't acquired the rights to Cube World, which will remain Wollay's independent, private project. That makes it unclear exactly how they'll be utilizing his talents, though it would be amazing to see some of Cube World's more structured features make their way into Minecraft.
Officially, Notch has only stated that Mojang intends "to plug his brain directly to a keyboard and sell whatever comes out." Shortly afterwards, he followed up with a helpful illustration of the plan.
