While recent Ubisoft news has been dominated by delays and cancellations according to Insider Gaming Ubisoft has 11 projects planned to release in the Fiscal Year 2024 (April 2023 – March 2024). There’s certainly a large number of projects being worked on at Ubisoft at the moment. Whether all of these titles will release in the coming Fiscal Year will remain to be seen. Three unannounced games were recently canceled by Ubisoft and on top of this Skull & Bones faced further delays. Probably the most interesting title on the list of planned releases is Project Orland which is set to be another entry in The Crew series. While not yet officially announced the title originally started as a DLC for The Crew 2 but quickly shifted to its own standalone project. The title’s aim is to either compete with or fill a gap in the market that Forza Horizon currently occupies. Sources noted to Insider Gaming that Project Orland is the “yet-to-be-announced major IP” which was featured in Ubisoft’s emergency meeting with investors.
However, players will likely be focused on the titles that are closer to release including Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Mirage‘s creative director Stéphane Boudon recently noted in an interview with GamesRadar+ that Assassin’s Creed Mirage was set to bring the Assassin’s Creed series back to its roots and focus on a smaller map with greater detail.
Of course, the first one comes from our community: Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla they are all great games with the promise to live an epic journey in a strong fantasy. Their scopes have been calibrated to fulfil those ambitions as they all embrace the RPG mechanics. But amongst our fans, we started hearing the desire for a character driven story, focused on the core pillars of the first Assassin’s Creed’s in a more intimate scale. It resonates with us as well as developers and this was the starting point of the project.
