Gears of War is a massive IP for Xbox. This is a series that first got started back in 2006 by the development studio Epic Games. It was a thrilling third-person shooter that pinned humanity against a new sinister force, the Locust. Over the years, we’ve seen several installments released following different characters on their ongoing campaign to fight off the Locust. But those earlier installments might be due for a remaster, which would allow both veteran players to go back and enjoy these games again or newcomers to catch up on the narrative for any future installments.
There have been rumors of a remastered collection being in the works. However, nothing official has come out. The only big remastered edition fans received was Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, which offered a remastered edition of the first installment of the series. But the remastered collection is said to bring out several previous installments for players to enjoy. While we’re waiting on a remastered collection announcement, it seems that this collection is not scrapped. Instead, another industry insider is chiming in about what they have heard.
Nick Baker is the co-founder of Xboxera.com, and they recently commented on the Gears of War Remastered Collection that’s rumored to be in development. According to Nick, this collection for the franchise is still currently happening. Unfortunately, Nick stated that they couldn’t offer any more details outside that the game collection is in the works. Apparently, more news could be coming depending on Nick’s sources, but that should hopefully shed some light on this rumored collection.
For Gears of War fans, this is a collection that will hopefully get a proper announcement sooner rather than later. Likewise, the Xbox Series X/S platforms are still new in the marketplace. I’m sure there are quite a few fans out there that wouldn’t mind seeing how much the earlier installments of the franchise could be enhanced on the latest-generation hardware. But for now, we’ll simply have to wait for an official announcement to be made available. In the meantime, we do know Microsoft will be handing out a few video game announcements this month. It was revealed that there is a developer-focused stream happening at the end of this month which will highlight several games coming to the Xbox platform.
