Today indie game development studio Exploding Tuba has announced the upcoming video game title Divide which will launch on PlayStation 4 later this year. According to the official PlayStation Blog, the Divide video game is set in a futuristic science fiction world where players take control of a regular guy named David. It’s through his eyes we unfold the narrative drive story, however, it’s up to the players interpretation on what is discovered within the game.
Divide is a callback to the classic isometric dual-stick shooters. Chris Tilton, founder of Exploding Tuba Studios made mention of how controls were essential when creating the video game. The development team wanted to assure that players could easily maneuver around and interact with the world without having to constantly maneuver around the controller in order to select the appropriate button combination.
It was important for the controls to be concise and anchor your fingers to the buttons to keep every action, from shooting to interfacing with an augmented reality world, available without multitasking any given finger or thumb.
Players will be tasked with the exploration of the world with a dungeon crawl atmosphere. Furthermore, it’s up to the player how they progress within the game. While going guns blazing will get the job done, players could go through the world with a stealth mindset. While we know the game will be releasing on the PlayStation 4, we’re not given a specific release window quite yet. Nevertheless, take a look at the announcement trailer for Divide above.
