The PlayStation 5 is supposedly receiving a rather notable update here shortly. It’s already been reported that the PlayStation 5 console platform would receive an update that brings Discord into the mix. That’s something I’m sure more than a few players would be delighted to have at their disposal. However, we’re now finding that this next major update will also bring out cloud streaming for PlayStation 5 games. Of course, this is just a report and nothing official at the moment, but here’s what we know so far.
As mentioned, it’s been reported in the past that Discord integration would be coming to the PlayStation 5. We’re sure you’re already familiar with Discord by now. However, if not, we have you covered. Discord is an instant messaging social platform where individuals can connect online and communicate in a variety of ways. This platform, which was only released in 2015, gained a massive following as users can text message, voice call, and video call, along with sharing files. There’s also the ability to create communities online that can all connect together in one single chat room. It’s proven to be quite popular, and fortunately, there’s integration coming to the PlayStation 5.
Soon, PlayStation 5 owners will be able to connect with their Discord on the console and continue interacting with friends online. This should also mean having the ability to communicate with friends on the PlayStation 5 that’s not directly connected to a PlayStation console. However, we’re also finding out about some new cloud streaming features heading to the PlayStation 5. This report comes from Insider Gaming which states sources close to Sony had revealed PlayStation 5 games will be streamable. Apparently, this feature would be tied to the PlayStation Plus Premium Tier, but that’s as much as we know so far.
We should hear more about this feature soon as the report goes on to say that a beta for PlayStation 5 7.00 update is coming out in just a few days. While the beta will allow some users the ability to test some of the latest features out, it’s reported that Discord functionality won’t be included in this beta test. Regardless, the beta won’t last for too long, as it’s also noted that the beta completion date will be on January 30, 2023. For now, we’ll have to wait for Sony to make an official announcement regarding the next version update for PlayStation 5 and what exactly the update will provide players.
