IO Interactive Is Making Significant Changes To The Hitman Trilogy

January 3, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Introducing Hitman World of Assassination.

The Hitman franchise recently had a trilogy of games released, and if you’re a fan, chances are you’ve already played through them. Still, the development team behind the project, IO Interactive, is hopeful that this new change coming to the trilogy will make it even easier for newcomers to join in on the fun. Today, the developers have introduced to fans the Hitman World of Assassination release, which will, more or less, take the place of the trilogy of games. Fortunately, it will also potentially mean new content for those who have already purchased Hitman 3.

IO Interactive revealed that Hitman 3 would soon be replaced with Hitman World of Assassination. This will include not only Hitman 3 but also Hitman Game of the Year Access Pass along with the Standard Access to Hitman 2. That will put players back $70, but with it comes the three mainline Hitman games along with some extra DLC content. But that’s not the only edition that will be available. Players could also go for the Hitman World of Assassination Deluxe Pack, which will be $30 and include the Hitman 3 Deluxe Pack, Hitman 3 Seven Deadly Sins Collection, and Hitman 2 Expansion Access Pass.

Now it’s worth noting that this change won’t take place until January 26, 2023, so you have most of this month to pick up select content separately. But once January 26, 2023, hits, then you’ll find Hitman and Hitman 2 being removed from digital storefronts. If you already own those games, then access to them will remain exactly the same. Gaining access to those games would require players to pick up Hitman World of Assassination in the future.

Fortunately, there is some flexibility here for those of you who might own certain games or DLCs. Rather than making players repurchase anything, the developers have made it so that players will only pay an even split for the content they don’t own. Again, this is an effort to make the game purchases easier for newcomers, along with dropping the price for DLC entry. So those of you who want to dive into the whole Hitman collection might want to take a stab at the upcoming Hitman World of Assassination when it drops on January 26, 2023.
