Europa Universalis 4 is set to expand once again with the announcement of new content pack Mare Nostrum.
Announcing the expansion on Paradox Interactive’s forums, community manager BjornB said, “Ever since its 2013 release, Paradox Development Studio has labored to fill in the romantic and turbulent history of the early modern world. Now, with Mare Nostrum, we turn our eyes to the seas.”
The expansion is said to offer a broad range of changes, of which one of the main alterations is the concept of “sailors”. Sailors act as a similar statistic to the game’s existing manpower stat and will be required in order to build and repair ships for your fleets. Another change is the ability to task your navy with missions and provide instructions on when they’re due to return home, meaning you don’t need to micromanage your ships when they’re far from your homeland.
Additional changes to the map, mercenaries, trade leagues, and espionage are also included as part of the expansion.
Details about the expansion as well as free update 1.16 which will be released at the same time can be found here. Information on the game’s launch date and price has not yet been announced.
Paradox Development Studio is also working on Stellaris, which was announced at gamescom last August. The game promises to bring the depth and complexity fans expect of Paradox’s strategy games to space while also offering a whole lot more.
