You know, if I didn't know better I'd say people really like Skyrim. Like a whole stinkin' lot. Like 10 million units a lot. This could be because Skyrim recently hit the 10 million units shipped mark. It goes without saying that Skyrim is going to be a lot of peoples game of the year. The game has already gotten over 200 perfect scores since it's release.
“We are gratified that Skyrim continues to garner high review scores and accolades around the world,” Robert Altman, Chairman and CEO of ZeniMax Media said. “We are most grateful to our fans for their support and enthusiasm for the game, and their love of the hundreds of hours of gameplay it offers. We continue to strive to deliver the highest quality entertainment experience for everyone. 2012 will be another huge year for our fans, with the release of the Creation Kit, as well as exciting DLC which will add to the richness of this epic adventure.”
Not only has the game shipped 10 million units, it's also been the fastest selling game on Steam, according to Jason Holtman, Director of Business Development at Valve Corporation. Holtman went on to say, "“Bethesda’s commitment to and understanding of the PC as a gaming platform shows in the great review scores, spectacular launch, and continued high player numbers that Skyrim has received. We are delighted that Bethesda chose to use Steamworks to support Skyrim both at retail and digitally.”
Skyrim is obviously my game of the year. I just got out of school for the semester and you better believe I'm spending the next month inside of Skyrim. It doesn't surprise me, nor should it surprise anyone else, that Skyrim has sold this much. This game is easily the most ambitious game to be released so far; with so much to do it's no wonder people are picking the game up left and right.
