Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Players Get Picnic-Themed Mystery Gift

December 2, 2022 by Todd Black

Fresh from the source!

There were many new features in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet that players wanted to try out. One of the more curious ones was the picnic feature. It was an offshoot of previous generations of mainline games where your trainer could interact with their Pokemon party. If you found an open enough space in Paldea, you could summon your Pokemon, play ball with them, clean them so that the dirt from your adventures wouldn’t stick to them, etc. But arguably, the most important feature was that you could feed your Pokemon sandwiches that would give them boosts in battles and beyond. To that end, a new Mystery Gift will please those who love to make sandwiches at the picnic.

If you go to the Poke Portal and go into Mystery Gift, you’ll get Peanut Butter, Prosciutto, Hamburger, Cream Cheese, Noodles, and Rice in batches of ten. At first, that doesn’t sound like much, but there are some things to remember here. First, not all of these items can be freely bought at stores. Second, some ingredients here have a purpose outside the battle scene. For example, if you put the hamburger in your sandwiches, you’ll get a boost in finding shiny Pokemon! That alone will give people a desire to get these gifts.

That’s the third thing. It’s free! When you get the chance to get something free from a game, you should do it! Another type of trainer who will love these gifts is the breeders. The cream cheese ingredient will increase the likelihood of eggs finding their way into your picnic basket.

The reward in this Mystery Gift may not be as great as past ones, like getting a free Pikachu, but some will like it. Plus, if you’re hoping that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will deliver more “robust” content for you, they’ve already been doing that via their Tera Raid events. They’ve already done one with the Eevee raid event, and more are coming soon.

Add to that; The Pokemon Company has released a significant patch for you to get that’ll fix multiple things in the game. They even noted that they’re fully aware of the performance issues Gen 9 has been having, and they’re working to fix that.

There have also been rumors about future content within the game. The biggest one is that Mega Evolutions may come into the title, or a journey to a past region might be in the cards. Stay tuned to see which is true!
