Team Fortress 2’s Australian Christmas is the Best Christmas

December 15, 2011 by Elizabeth DeLoria

Let’s face it – Christmas in Australia is a lot less magical than it is in the other hemisphere. In fact, it’s crap. But Valve took our crappy holiday season and has turned it into something much more with the TF2 Australian Christmas update.

Let’s face it – Christmas in Australia is a lot less magical than it is in the other hemisphere. In fact, it’s crap. But Valve took our crappy holiday season and has turned it into something much more with the TF2 Australian Christmas update.

Australians get a bit of a raw deal when it comes to Christmas. We get sunburn instead of Snow, it’s too hot for eggnog by the fire, and idiots attach those stupid fake reindeer antlers to their cars (okay, that last one might be universal.) There’s a very special story behind Australian Christmas, however, and it’s one worth celebrating. It involves violence, drinking, and kidnapping children. I’m crying patriotic tears, really.

Valve aren’t lying about the goodies Old Nick has. This isn’t just an update, it’s the best gift ever. It includes more head gear than you could ever dream of, new maps, new things to beat the crap out of each other with and best of all: a new Medieval Mode.

Medieval mode is exactly what it sounds like – a Medieval mode. The mode can currently only be played on the new DeGroot Keep map, but it’ll no doubt keep you amused and shouting into your headset for hours.

The update also includes an Engineer Braniac pack, which is all about science, and a Pyro Moonman pack, which includes a bubble pipe. Yes. A bubble pipe.

I want that bubble pipe.
