Samorost 3, From The Makers Of Machinarium, Comes To PC And Mac Next Month

February 26, 2016 by Holly Green

This new puzzle game features a flute playing, space-traveling gnome.

The makers of Machinarium and Botanicula have a new game coming out, and today they’ve announced it will be released at the end of next month. Entitled Samorost 3, series creator and founder of development studio Amanita Design Jakub Dvorský describes the game as their most biggest and most ambitious project to date, saying:

“Our goal was to create something playful yet dense, blending the challenging logic puzzles of Machinarium with the more relaxed gameplay and tone of Botanicula. We think it offers something that both longtime fans of the series and newcomers will be able to enjoy.”

Samorost 3 is a puzzle game that stars a quirkly little space gnome with a magical flute that allows him to explore the cosmos. As the name would suggest, it is a follow up on the original Samorost and Samorost 2, released in 2003 and 2005 respectively. The release date trailer for Samorost 3 can be seen above, its footage illustrating the strangely enchanting and hypnotically bizarre art style. You can also get a glimpse of that in our gallery below. The game promises challenging puzzles and “hidden surprises and achievements” across stunning alien biomes, set to an original soundtrack by Tomáš “Floex” Dvorák, the composer who worked on Machinarium.

Samorost 3 will arrive on PC and Mac on March 24, 2016 for $19.99 through Steam, GOG.com, Humble Store, the Mac App Store, and its official website. A more elaborate version called Samorost 3 Cosmic Edition, which will include the full game, a digital art book and the game’s original soundtrack, will also be available, priced at $24.99. A release of the core game on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets will follow sometime later this year.
