Well, this is pretty awesome–and surprising–news: You can now play Bastion on Chrome, which is made possible by using Google’s new Native Client technology! All you have to do is navigate to the Chrome Web Store and unlock the game.
Supergiant games, Bastion's creators, made the announcement today on their official blog. They also reassured gamers that this won't be a low-res, lesser version of the game.
"This really is the full Bastion experience, featuring our highly acclaimed 1080p artwork, musical score, reactive narration, and play experience, all built to run fast and smooth just like our Xbox 360 and PC versions. And, much like those versions, you can play through the prologue for free." said Supergiant Games.
To unlock the full game, it will cost $14.99 USD.
The system requirements are also very reasonable for the Chrome version:
– Processor: 1.7 GHz Dual Core or Greater
– Memory: 2 GB
– Hard Disk Space: 1.0 GB
– Video Card: 512 MB graphics card (shader model 2)
(Note: Gamepad controllers are not supported in this initial release.)
Though Supergiant Games appreciate gamers' requests for bringing Bastion to their gaming platform of choice, they have "no confirmed plans for other versions." They haven’t ruled anything out, however.
"The quality of our game is our primary concern, and that means having to focus on developing for one platform at a time. We aim to be super careful about how we make these choices, to bring you the highest possible quality in any new game we make available."
They also stated that will be unveiling more Bastion-related news this Saturday, so stay tuned!
