For what felt like ages, the Silent Hill fanbase community lived in their own little version of the otherworld. Years passed with hopes, pleas, and rumors suggesting Silent Hill was making a grand return. However, Konami would keep tightlipped with each passing year. Events would go on, and not even a mention of the once-thriving survival horror IP would happen. That finally changed back in October of 2022. Konami unveiled a Silent Hill focused video, and with it came several games reveals and even a film.
Among the variety of reveals, one game took the key focus from the event. Konami was pleased to announce that Silent Hill 2 would be getting a proper remake. If you’re entirely new to the franchise, Silent Hill 2 was one of the most iconic installments from the entire franchise. As a result, plenty of veteran fans are eager to dive back into this psychological horror narrative. Along the way, Konami is hopeful that this remake will also appeal to newcomers.
Of course, while the game was officially revealed, there might be plenty of questions you’re eager to get answered. Currently, the development team is handling the game project, but we do have some information readily available.
What Platforms Will Silent Hill 2 Launch On?
There are quite a few fans out there waiting on the launch of Silent Hill 2. The remake is currently in development at Bloober Team, and after years of Konami’s Silent Hill IP dormancy, fans of the franchise are eagerly awaiting a release date announcement. Unfortunately, we don’t have a release date when writing this article. However, what we do know is just what platforms this game will be launching on. Unfortunately, it will be somewhat limited right now.
The remake of Silent Hill 2 is currently being developed for the PC and the PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, this means we’re dropping last-generation console platforms altogether. Likewise, it doesn’t look like Xbox owners will be getting their hands on the game when it officially drops into the marketplace. But that doesn’t mean they are without hope. This is a timed console exclusive, so PlayStation 5 owners will have first dibs at playing Silent Hill 2. Much like how Bloober Team’s last release, The Medium, was a console timed exclusive for the Xbox Series X/S for a duration.
We don’t know just how long the exclusive deal might be in play for now. It’s likely a year-long exclusive deal, so when Silent Hill 2 does launch into the marketplace, Xbox owners can probably expect it within the following year. However, it could be a bit shorter as we can look at the previous release from Bloober Team, The Medium. This game launched on January 28, 2021, for the PC and Xbox Series X/S. It wasn’t until September 3, 2021, that PlayStation 5 owners received the game. So, for now, if you have a capable gaming PC or a PlayStation 5, it looks like you’ll be all set for the game’s launch.
