For what felt like ages, the Silent Hill fanbase community lived in their own little version of the otherworld. Years passed with hopes, pleas, and rumors suggesting Silent Hill was making a grand return. However, Konami would keep tightlipped with each passing year. Events would go on, and not even a mention of the once-thriving survival horror IP would happen. That finally changed back in October of 2022. Konami unveiled a Silent Hill focused video, and with it came several games reveals and even a film.
Among the variety of reveals, one game took the key focus from the event. Konami was pleased to announce that Silent Hill 2 would be getting a proper remake. If you’re entirely new to the franchise, Silent Hill 2 was one of the most iconic installments from the entire franchise. As a result, plenty of veteran fans are eager to dive back into this psychological horror narrative. Along the way, Konami is hopeful that this remake will also appeal to newcomers.
Of course, while the game was officially revealed, there might be plenty of questions you’re eager to get answered. Currently, the development team is handling the game project, but we do have some information readily available.
Does Silent Hill 2 Have Multiplayer?
Silent Hill is an iconic survival horror franchise that’s been around since the days of Sony’s original PlayStation console. Over the years, we’ve seen several games released into the marketplace. However, if you want to pick up Silent Hill 2 in hopes of joining a friend to go through the town of Silent Hill, you might be a bit disappointed. The Silent Hill 2 original game doesn’t feature any multiplayer game modes, which is mainly the case for the entire franchise. So you shouldn’t expect that to change for the upcoming remake.
In Silent Hill 2, we’re getting a solo experience as players take on the role of James Sunderland. James will be on the hunt for his wife throughout the town of Silent Hill. Although, you will find a few different characters popping up along the way. Unfortunately, these characters are NPCs, so again you won’t be able to hop into another player’s game or have a friend join you while progressing through the campaign. At any rate, this has become an instantly anticipated game release because of how popular the original game was and the long gap players had to endure to get another release for the IP.
Unfortunately, at the time of writing this article, we still don’t have a specific release date attached to the upcoming remake of Silent Hill 2. Instead, all we know right now is that at the time of this game’s release, you will find it available on both the PlayStation 5 and PC platforms.
