While those of us in the West have already had three solid weeks to sink every waking moment of our lives into Skyrim, Bethesda's massive open world RPG won't be out in Japan until next week. That delay comes in part because Bethesda needed time to localize the game's 60,000 lines of dialogue. If this new Japanese trailer is any indication, that time was well worth it, because the new voicework sounds downright amazing.
Odd as it may sound, the voice acting is pitch perfect enough to make me forget that Skyrim wasn't actually a Japanese game in the first place. I mean, it's a fantasy RPG with giant, talking cats. Frankly, it was already two-thirds of the way there, and this audio just puts it over the top.
By all accounts, Bethesda's done a great job tailoring Skyrim to a Japanese audience, as the country's top gaming mag, Famitsu, just awarded the game a perfect 40/40 score. We'll find out if Skyrim can find a big Japanese audience when the game launches on December 8.
