In the completely unsurprising category of news today, it looks like Dead Island is finally getting banned in Germany. As we all know, violent video games turn people into soulless husks of human beings that can’t think of anything else other than murder and mayhem. Dead Island developers weren’t very surprised by this news though.
“This isn’t unexpected,” a representative for the game stated. “Germany has its unique regulations regarding video games and violence and the industry can only comply. Both Deep Silver and Techland were aware of such a possibility from the very beginning.” Deep Silver fully expected this move, so much so that they didn’t even bother even attempting to sell the game in Germany.
When was the last time you saw a riot over a video game (not counting Black Friday)? Now, ask yourself that same question but replace video game with sporting event. It’s not that I have anything against sports, or how much people get into them, I’m just trying to make a point. There are things that go unbanned in Germany that cause way more damage physically and mentally than video games do. Get with the times Germany.
