Some new information on Rainbow 6 Patriots has been released, describing some of the features we can expect to see in the game.
Ubisoft stated today that the game will allow players to experience events from "multiple perspectives" and they will likely struggle with difficult ethical decisions, making them think twice about having the "doing-whatever-it-takes" mentality.
In addition, you will be able to either tell your squad to perform the most efficient and deadly tactic depending the situation by simply pressing a button, or you can take full control of your squad to plan the perfect assault on the enemy.
The game’s combat techniques were also mentioned, specifically the new Rappel and Breach mechanics. It will now be possible to "Wall & Ceiling Breach, Fast Rope Rappel, inverted ‘Aussie Style Rappel’, Infiltrate & Subdue, to name a few," which has potential to significantly diversify the game play. Another tool that will be added to the Patriots is the "thermal read" feature. This will allow the player to determine the squad’s best course of action to defeat enemies.
Ubisoft has also revealed that there will be something called a "Sandtable" in every online lobby, which is a holographic display that help players with each level before they dive into the action. This will aid players to strategically coordinate attacks and add a new dimension to squad tactics.
This all sounds great in theory I guess, but let's see how they put it into practice when a demo rolls around sometime next year.
