If you’ve never played Battlefield 2, you won’t understand what the big deal is with the upcoming release of the Return to Karkand DLC for Battlefield 3.
DICE has released a new trailer showcasing the Gulf of Oman map, which comes included with the DLC, along with Strike at Karkand, Sharqi Peninsula and Wake Island—all of which were strongly featured in Battlefield 2.
The DLC also includes new vehicles, weapons and even a new Assignment system that allows players to earn special unlocks as they complete a variety of mission objectives while playing the game. These unlocks can then be used on any map.
The Return to Karkand DLC is available free for everyone who pre-ordered, or purchased the game on day one. Other players will have to pick it up for $14.99. It will be released in December 2011.
