Fans of the Star Ocean series only have ten more days to wait until Star Ocean: The Divine Force is released. Ahead of October 27, Square Enix and developer Tri-Ace have revealed two new character trailers, along with Star Ocean: The Divine Force Mission Report #4. The latter details Marielle, one of the new party members, and also gives more insight into other characters, item creation, the Es’owa board minigame, and private actions.
The first character to be introduced is Marielle L. Kenny, the first officer of the Astoria, the Pangalactic Federation battleship shot down by the Ydas. Graduating at the top of her class from the military academy, she’s known for being too hard on herself and is determined to uphold her family name. Check out her trailer below.
The next character to be introduced is Malkya Trathen, the leader of the Trathen, one of the races that inhabit the southern continent of Nihlbeth. Extremely intelligent, she is able of taking on any form at will. See her trailer below.
The new Mission Report also mentions two more side characters–Chloe Kanaris and Antonion Lawrence. Antonio is Raymond’s older brother, and Chloe is the pilot of the Ydas.
In August, fans got their first glimpse of Elena and Albaird Bergholm. Elena is a crewmember of the Ydas transport ship and the adjutant of the protagonist, Raymond. Managing to survive the ship’s demise, she is known for her calm personality and respect for Raymond as a leader. Aldbaired is Laeticia’s childhood friend and a knight in the Kingdom of Aucerius. Skilled at semiomancy and a master of wielding chakram, his left arm hides a mysterious secret, and while initially distant from the members of the Ydas crew, he will become a close friend as the game progresses.
Each Star Ocean game is known for the Welch Vineyard. Welch is a popular recurring character in the franchise known for managing crafting. In The Divine Force, players will need to complete her requests to unlock Item Creation. This will enable fans to take part in Compounding, Smithery, Engineering, Crafting, and more. Each character will have their own specialty when it comes to creating items.
In the upcoming title, Private Actions refer to conversational events. Depending on how players respond during certain conversations, a different ending may be unlocked.
As with any RPG, Star Ocean: The Divine Force won’t be without an addictive minigame. This time around, players can take part in the Es’owa board minigame. Progressing through the game will allow players to collect character figurines, and many of these figures depict characters from past Star Ocean titles.
Star Ocean: The Divine Force is scheduled to release for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam on October 27, 2022.
