Starting Nov. 10, coupled with the BD release of Godzilla, Sony will make it easier for PSP users to transfer digital copies from Blu-ray Disc to their handheld device to watch them on-the-go.
Currently, Sony includes the digital copy of Blu-ray movies on a separate DVD-ROM for transfer to the PSP but this is all about to change. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Sony Computer Entertainment America will add a new feature to Blu-ray releases allowing owners of the PSP and PlayStation 3 to directly transfer a film to their portable device from the PS3.
“This latest enhancement to Blu-ray and Digital Copy demonstrates the versatility of the format and its ability to deliver a multi-platform video experience,†said Rich Marty, VP of new business development at SPHE. “It also showcases the unique advantage that the PlayStation 3 brings to the Blu-ray consumer.â€
Sony Computer director of hardware marketing John Koller called the feature an innovation that will allow “users to easily take the best in movie and entertainment content on-the-go all of which is only possible on the PSP and PS3 platforms.â€
Sony will include the new Blu-ray feature to Godzilla, upcoming release The Ugly Truth and select other releases.
