Apparently there's a lot of people that play the DotA inspired game, League of Legends; four million a day to be exact.
Riot Games has announced that its community has increased by 280% since they last announced it back in July, with 11.5 million monthly active players. It also has a enormous registered player-base of over 30 million worldwide. Wow.
League of Legends is set to enter its second season, which will feature a five million dollar prize pool – the largest in eSports history.
“The incredible passion and dedication of our players is positively inspiring,” said Brandon Beck, co-founder and CEO of Riot Games. “Our community’s boundless enthusiasm is why they are central to every decision we make at Riot.”
I’ve never played League of Legends myself, mainly because of the all interesting things I hear about the community and their intolerance for newcomers. Anyway, despite that, I find those numbers incredibly staggering, especially for a game that’s based off a mod of another game.
