It is finally time for the Mario movie that’s coming this holiday season to get its first trailer. Not only will we be getting the trailer, but it will be shown during a Nintendo Direct that’s coming on October 6 at 1:05 pm PT, 4:05 pm ET, and 9:05 pm BST. This trailer will introduce all of us to the movie as we don’t know much about it besides it being a Mario movie…
Nintendo has confirmed that no gaming information or releases will be featured in the Direct and that it will be only focused on the film. Nintendo has also referred to the movie as The Super Mario Bros Movie, which might just be the title of this movie.
Further information on this is that The New York Comic Con announced last month that a trailer for the Mario movie would be shown on October 6 during the event, but they didn’t tell us how or when this would happen, but now we can be excited as we get the premier trailer this week.
The only key point information we have about this film is that Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World Dominion, and The Terminal List’s star Chris Pratt will be playing Mario. However, we have now gotten a seek peak from Nintendo with the first artwork for the film that we’ve seen yet, which shows Mario looking up at the Mushroom Kingdom.
Chris Pratt also took to Twitter to say that this movie is very special and that this will “blow us away.”
More On The Mario Movie
Alongside Chris Pratt, actor Anya Taylor-Joy from Queen’s Gambit has been cast as Princess Peach, Horrible Bosses’ Charlie Day as Luigi, and the famous Jack Black as Bowser. We also know that Seth Rogen will be taking on the role to play as Donkey Kong in the movie.
Many fans didn’t know how to feel about Chris Pratt playing the beloved character of Mario, but we know from many of Pratt’s past works that he is an amazing actor and great at switching voices and expressing emotions through his words. The co-producer of the Mario film actually defended Chris Pratt, saying that he would not be replicating the famous Italian accent that we all know Mario to have.
Chris Meledandri was approached at an airport by a reporter, who is the Illumination co-founder and CEO, and he was asked how Chris Pratt was going to pull off Mario’s voice, and he said, “all I can tell you is the voice that he’s doing for us and Mario is phenomenal. I can’t wait for people to hear it.”
This film was supposed to release in late 2022, but it was delayed to April 7 in North America and April 28 in Japan. We will finally be hearing Chris Pratt’s voice as Mario and we couldn’t be more excited. You can tune in to the Nintendo Direct on their YouTube and Twitch channels like normal on Thursday, October 6.
