Owners of the latest COD title, Modern Warfare 3, on the PC should note the distinct absence of the much-touted, marketed, and ultimately overhyped COD Elite service.
Due to ongoing issues that the service's developer, Beachhead, are having with keeping the service running on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game, its publisher Activision has decided to stall the availability of the service to players.
Beachhead made the error of announcing that it was possible that COD Elite would never see the light of day on the PC.
"We are working towards a universal Elite experience but we cannot guarantee if or when a version will be available for the PC."
Responding to a barrage of angry tweets from PC gamers, they later backpedaled on the statement by saying they "misspoke" and that the company had every intention of releasing Elite for the PC gaming master race.
"“We misspoke. Our goal has always been to provide a free PC offering for ELITE. Stay tuned for an update as timing is still being determined."
Given their prior statement, the service's appearance on the PC is far from guaranteed.
